Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026. This policy covers editorialfox.com, operated by the EditorialFox editorial team. Privacy questions: privacy@editorialfox.com.

EditorialFox is a publication, not a data broker. Reading this site requires no account, no registration, and no personal information; the data we do handle exists to keep the site fast, secure, and improving. This policy explains — plainly first, precisely after — what is collected, why, with whom it is shared, and the choices you hold.

The plain-language summary

  • Browse freely: no account or personal details are required to read anything here.
  • Standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed) is logged by our servers and analytics, as on virtually every website, for security and aggregate understanding.
  • Email us or join the newsletter, and we hold what you sent — used only for replying or delivering the newsletter, with unsubscribe available in every issue.
  • Cookies handle functionality, performance, analytics, and (if ads run) advertising; the Cookie Policy details every category and control.
  • We do not sell personal information. Ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, any time.

What we collect and why

Provided by you

  • Correspondence: your address, name if given, and message contents when you email us — kept to respond and to maintain a record of the exchange.
  • Newsletter signups: the email address, used solely for delivery; unsubscribing removes it from the list.
  • Comments, where enabled: submitted name, email, and content, with IP retained for spam control.

Collected automatically

  • Server logs: IP, device and browser type, referrer, requested pages, timestamps — the standard security and troubleshooting record of web hosting.
  • Aggregate analytics: which guides are read, for how long, from what regions and devices — informing what we write and fix next. We look at patterns, not people.
  • Cookies and similar technologies, per the dedicated policy.

The uses, exhaustively

  1. Operating, securing, and debugging the website.
  2. Answering your messages and delivering requested newsletters.
  3. Understanding aggregate readership to improve the publication.
  4. Serving advertising, if and when enabled, as described below.
  5. Meeting genuine legal obligations.

Not on the list, because we do not do them: selling or renting personal data, individual profiling, or automated decisions with legal effect.

Advertising networks

If EditorialFox displays ads — including via Google AdSense — the ad networks may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalization based on your visits across sites. Specifically: third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and other websites; Google’s advertising cookies enable it and partners to personalize accordingly. Your controls: opt out of Google’s personalization at Google Ads Settings and industry-wide at aboutads.info/choices.

Sharing

Data reaches only the service providers that operate the site — hosting, analytics, email delivery, and ad networks when active — each receiving only what its function requires under its own privacy obligations. Beyond providers, disclosure happens only under valid legal process or to protect the site and readers from fraud and abuse. There is no other list.

Retention

  • Security and server logs: short rolling windows standard to web infrastructure.
  • Correspondence: as long as a record of the exchange is useful — deleted on request.
  • Newsletter addresses: until unsubscribe or deletion request.
  • Aggregate analytics: indefinitely, containing no direct identifiers.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and similar laws you may hold rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port personal information, and to opt out of sale or sharing (we sell nothing regardless). We honor reasonable requests from every reader, jurisdiction aside: write to privacy@editorialfox.com for a response within 30 days. Complaints may also go to your local data protection authority.

Children

EditorialFox is a general-audience publication not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information; tell us if you believe a child has provided some, and we will delete it.

Security and international transfer

The site runs over HTTPS on reputable, maintained infrastructure. No transmission is perfectly secure, which is one more argument for our minimal-collection approach — little held, little at risk. Processing may occur in the United States and other jurisdictions; the protections described here travel with the data.

Changes

Material changes update the date atop this page, with prominent notice for significant ones. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
